Pilar Ramirez

Owner & Designer of Pamor Designs

"Instead of letting left over oranges rot and be done with, I bring them back to life (also symbolizes recycling) by creating a piece of art that will live on forever; and make someone look and feel fabulous at the same time!" - Pilar Ramirez

Pilar Ramirez was born and raised in Colombia, which is where she learned the craft of creating eco-friendly jewelry from orange peels and other organic materials. She started Pamor Designs seven years ago and began making jewelry because she's a big believer in living an environmentally responsible lifestyle…so she thought why not combine her way of living with her passion of beauty and jewelry?

One of the ways she encourages taking care of our beautiful earth is to create beautiful and organic jewelry that people can wear to feel beautiful and live an earth-friendly life at the same time. It also has a natural aroma of citrus, which pleases the senses! The inspiration for her collection comes from the importance of happiness and the natural beauty of the earth. The vibrant colors she chose, the flowers, hearts and the scent of oranges keep happiness intact and alive. The aroma of the orange is specifically known as the “scent to happiness,” which she hopes spreads to the people who wear her designs.

Pilar also incorporates coconut cloth into her designs, which she collects from Colombia. Coconut cloth is anti-microbial fabric that comes from the palm a natural and renewable resource. To compliment her jewelry line, she has introduced a variety of accessories such as bags, light jackets made from re-purposed materials, and hair decorations.

Her work can be seen in a number of boutiques in the Raleigh-Durham area. A list of fashion shows and art festivals she participated in include fashionSPARK 2010 and 2011, My Carolina Today, Couture for a Cause 2010 and 2011(as a sponsor for the silent auction), Rock & Shop Fashion Show, Morning Times Market, Festi Fall Chapel Hill, The Designers Downtown Market, Lazy Days Art Festival, Plein Air Auction, Redress Fashion Show 2011 and 2012, Artsplosure Festival Raleigh, West Hampton Beach Art Festival, the Buckhead Spring Arts & Crafts Festival 2011 along with local fashion blogs, publications, just to name a few. Recently she's been featured in an NYC Art event for the third year at The American Craft Show Javits Center!
